Welcome to this week’s edition of Mondays with Mark. Here’s what’s new this week…
1. Prebiotics vs. Probiotics: which is more important? 🍌
Prebiotics deserve far more attention than they get. They play a decisive role in both oral and gut microbiome health.
Think of prebiotics as the fertilizer for a garden: without them, beneficial bacteria introduced as probiotics won’t flourish.
If I had to pick just one, I’d choose prebiotics—specifically a quality prebiotic powder I use regularly.
No matter how many probiotics you take, they won’t have a lasting effect if the environment doesn’t support those microbes. That’s why prebiotics are essential.
It’s also worth noting that getting enough prebiotics from food alone can be challenging for many people, which is why supplementation can be helpful.
2. Watch last week’s sleep apnea Q&A 💤
If you missed it, I covered common questions about sleep apnea and practical steps to improve airway health. You can find the full session on my Instagram stories under the highlight titled “Sleep.”
For March, we’ll continue with Instagram Q&As featuring experts on airway health, myofunctional therapy, facial development, and pediatric holistic and functional dentistry. Follow along to catch these conversations and stay informed.
3. Submit your question for my new podcast 🎙
I’ll be honest: Instagram Stories’ short video limit has been frustrating. Fifteen seconds is rarely enough time to dig into meaningful answers.
That’s why I’m launching a podcast next week to allow deeper, more thoughtful discussions. If you’d like your question answered on the show, record a voice memo and send it in—I’d love to hear from you.
You can always reply to this email; messages come directly to me and my team. While I can’t answer every note personally, your questions help shape future blog posts and newsletters. So please reply and ask away.
Thanks for reading and have a great week.

P.S. In honor of International Women’s Day, I want to highlight my favorite manual toothbrush, the Radius Source. It’s made by a women-owned and led company and is excellent for gum recession, sensitivity, or gingivitis. The design also cuts toothbrush waste dramatically, which I appreciate. Highly recommend considering this toothbrush if you’re looking for a thoughtful, effective option.
