My interview with Max Lugavere is now live. I think you’ll enjoy this episode of The Genius Life — it’s full of useful insights. We dive deeply into oral health topics including gum recession, flossing, fluoride, microplastics in water, and more. This is episode #330 of The Genius Life Podcast. Tune in here and feel free to reply to let me know what you thought.
This week I want to focus on dental x-rays and answer the questions I see most often:
“Are dental x-rays safe?”
“Is the radiation from dental x-rays safe for kids?”
“When should I refuse dental x-rays?”
When considering x-rays, use the ALARA principle: “As Low As Reasonably Achievable.” Reduce your family’s exposure to x-rays whenever possible, while recognizing that there are times when x-rays provide essential diagnostic information and clear benefits.
It’s important to weigh the risks against the benefits for each situation.

P.S. Saliva plays a larger role in oral health than many realize. I see many people struggle because their saliva lacks the minerals needed to function effectively. One product I use daily to support the ionic balance of my saliva is an electrolyte powder, which has a specific ratio of sodium, magnesium, and potassium. It’s an easy way to help ensure your saliva can do its job.
